METAL

Morfy Gikas -- Haydn Llewellyn Davies
Since ancient times, bronze has been admired not only for its timelessness but also for the by-product of its aging process--the rich patinas on its surface. Metal, in a different form was also used for centuries. During medieval times early Christian artists worked on gold leaf to enhance the transcendental message of their paintings or manuscripts. In the Twentieth Century, as the dividing line between sculpture and painting fades, one sees an increasing number of artists who incorporate metal in various ways in works which are to be viewed primarily as two-dimensional creations.
